We always look forward to our annual pilgrimage to North Stradbroke Island. Each year humpback whales head north at this time to breed and give birth in warmer waters, and Straddie is a great place to watch them from land. This year it was a little overcast, but no less enjoyable. We made the crossing by early morning ferry, drove to Point Lookout on the other side of the island, and set up on our usual piece of rock to spend the day in comfort as we watched the great giants swim past. Whales weren't the only wildlife we encountered during the day. Dolphins and turtles shared the sea, and roos and kookaburras shared the land. The day was everything we hoped for. Good food, good wine, good company, and the sighting of many, many whales swimming by the island quite closely. No matter how often we witnessed breaching and tail slapping and spurting, we still oohed and ahhed every time. I am sure we will be just as enthusiastic next year.

After stumbling across your amazing blog, I'm definitely taking a whale-watching trip to Straddie soon. Your content is truly inspiring and the picture you shared of your own experience there was breathtaking! I would highly recommend that anyone interested in the ultimate whale-watching tour on the Gold Coast book with Best Whale Watching Gold Coast, as they provide a service that simply can't be beaten.
