Qld Road Trip 2021
COVID still has the world closed for travel, but Queensland is open and a wonderful place to explore, so we hit the road again. We did a loop, heading west to begin - Brisbane to Roma, Carnarvon Gorge, Emerald, then further west to Alpha, Barcaldine and Longreach. Then north-west to Winton and Cloncurry before turning east to Townsville for catch up time with family. Next it was south to Proserpine for more family catch up time, before heading home inland via Biloela and Kingaroy. Click on the place names to read more and see photographs of different parts of our trip.
The towns of Outback Queensland each have a unique story to tell and are brimming with history and character. The people we met along the way, both locals and tourists, were always interesting, always helpful, and always friendly. We loved exploring each town, but we also enjoyed the long drives connecting them through beautiful country. There is something special about wide open spaces under vast skies. The air is cleaner and the colours more intense. The stars are brighter and so is the sunshine. The slower pace of life seeps under your skin and allows you time to appreciate what is about.
