After drinks at Southbank it was time for dinner in the city. The Treasury special of salmon and prawns, plum pudding and a glass of wine for $10 was just right for our appetites and pockets. |
There is so much to see and do in Brisbane leading up to Christmas. Our hiking this week was between some of these sights and activities, with some drinking and eating in between. After dinner we enjoyed strolling through the Mall looking at the Myer Christmas windows, followed by the Christmas Parade. Then we joined the crowds in King George Square to watch the City Hall Light display. A quick hike back to the river saw us make it in time for the fireworks before heading home.

The Lord Mayor's Seniors Christmas Parties are an annual tradition inviting Brisbane Seniors (60 years and over) to celebrate the festive season with a program of Christmas shows and high tea. We enjoyed last year's event and were thrilled to enjoy this year's as much, if not more. After the concert at City Hall we walked to Eagle Street and enjoyed lunch at the Jade Buddha overlooking the beautiful Brisbane River. Quite nice to replace our hiking gear with glad rags for a change. High tea and concert - $5, lunch with a view - $10, Wednesdays with the Hungry Hikers - priceless.
