The highlight of their time (and mine) in the Whitsundays was a reef sleep. We travelled with Cruise Whitsundays on a fast cat via Hamilton Island to Hardy Reef, where a pontoon is anchored and activities are based for a great reef experience. Booking in the middle of the wet season was a gamble, but we were in luck. The Whitsundays were waterlogged from torrential rain that had fallen leading up to the day we departed on our reef adventure, but as if by magic the skies cleared, the wind dropped to a gentle breeze and the sea was like glass.
Lunch each day was an array of cold salads and ham, chicken and unlimited, large, fresh prawns, which were delicious.
If you ever get the chance I would highly recommend this experience. Cruise Whitsundays were very professional in their services and the reef rats (staff who stayed out on the pontoons with us) were attentive, but discreetly melted into the background so that we felt quite alone out there.
