The Brisbane Valley Rail Trail, completed in 2012, follows the disused Brisbane Valley rail line that commenced construction at Wulkaraka near Ipswich in 1884 and was completed at Yarraman in 1913. Changing economic conditions through the mid-1900s eventually lead to the rail being closed in 1989. Last year we walked the first section of this 161 kilometre trail from Wanora to Fernvale. This week our Wednesday walking group tackled the next section, Fernvale to Lowood and back. It was an easy walk with picturesque views of the Brisbane River and rolling countryside. |
