The heritage-listed Toowong Cemetery is located on the slopes of Mount Coot-tha and was once Brisbane's main cemetery. It is in fact Queensland's largest cemetery and is located on forty-four hectares of land at the corner of Frederick Street and Mount Coot-tha Road approximately four and a half kilometres west of Brisbane. One could wander here for days, and many walkers do. It has also earned a reputation for being haunted. Brisbane Ghost Tours conduct night guided tours through the grounds. |
Although warm, thankfully today was not as hot as it has been and our walk along the river was most pleasant. We enjoyed the breeze, the sunshine. the city scape and bridges, the art that pops up in surprising places and the simple fact that we have all this on our doorstep. We finished our outing with a picnic at Southbank and a stroll under the lanterns being strung up in readiness for the Buddha Birthday celebrations coming up at the end of the month. How lucky are we? |
