This month seems to have been a never ending celebration of Christmas cheer, food and fun activities. Now we hang up our hiking boots until the new year. Wishing everyone all the best.
Last year we made a trip to Beaudesert to enjoy their yarn bomb installations. This year we went a little further west to Boonah. Their main street yarn decorations were wonderful. High Street has a significant number of trees lining the street and this is where the yarnbombing set a great festive feel. Leaving Boonah, we headed back to Jayne's for another fabulous festive spread. We are not called The Hungry Hikers for no reason.

QPAC’s longest running event Spirit of Christmas was as joyful and entertaining as ever, and the reason we keep it on our Christmas agenda. Musical theatre stars Courtney Monsma (Frozen The Musical, SIX The Musical, Aladdin and MAMMA MIA!) and Alex Rathgeber(The Mousetrap, Anything Goes, Phantom of the Opera, Wizard of Oz) joined a host of special guests supported by Queensland Symphony Orchestra, and the celebrated QPAC Chamber Choir and Voices of Birralee. After the concert, we set up our night picnic by the river, enjoying a pretty lighted city backdrop. As you can see, the Hungry Hikers don't do things by halves. The table setting was very festive, and passers by were generous with their greetings, and joyful in their interactions. The Christmas spirit is alive and well in Brisbane.
Last week we wore red and black to get into the Christmas spirit. This week we chose green and white for another Christmas outing, this time to the Enchanted Garden. Each year, as part of Brisbane's festivities, a wonderful light display is presented at Roma Street Gardens. We met first for dinner at the Treasury, and as always, their monthly special was superb. The walk meanders along a one-kilometre walk, designed to get you merry and celebrate nature. Combining custom-made LEDs, plus special effects, light sculptures, lasers, projections and holograms and an immersive audio soundscape, the 2022 installation featured five sections.
Tis the season to dress up jolly, so that's what we did when we started our evening at the Lord Mayor's Seniors' Concert, followed by a walk around the city to check out the Christmas trees and lights and decorations. |
