This week we found a new, recently opened walk - the Logan Village to Yarrabilba Rail Trail. It is a high quality asphalt sealed route that extends about 3.5km from Logan Village to Yarrabilba. The trailhead includes some attractive information signage and extends through a mostly continuous green corridor of trees. The corridor passes through a semi-rural area and has intersections with wayfinding signage to adjoining streets. The trail terminates at Blossom St on the edge of Yarrabilba. We failed to notice the street name, and after walking around Yarrabilba could not relocate the entrance. We ended up walking back along the main road and notched up a little over 10km for the day.

The Forest Hill cafe serves excellent coffee in a cosy setting full of enticing goods for sale. Next door is the Unique and Fabulous Emporium which is teeming with vintage, retro and collectible items. Refreshed, we drove on to Laidley, where we followed the Heritage Trail, enjoying the town's many well kept buildings under a perfect winter, blue sky. It was a tad windy, but nothing could daunt our mood. After checking out many interesting stores and scoring a few bargains, we lunched at the quaintly decorated Laidley Tea Room.
It was a wonderful day of exploring the area. We passed through some lovely small towns such as Marburg, Grandchester and Rosewood, all neat and proud of their heritage.
Today was People's Day at the Brisbane EKKA so we thought it best to avoid high traffic on the roads. We met at Southbank and hiked along the river towards St Lucia, enjoying the lovely sunshine along the way. We made a stop at the Regatta Pub for cold beer and gin and tonics, then feeling refreshed continued on through St Lucia before catching the ferry back to the Southbank. Lunch at Zeus Creek Street was a fitting end to our pleasant 10 kilometre walk.
