Today we started at Sel Outridge Park, on the sea side section of Peel Street, Redland Bay, where there is a small car park. Brisbane's winter weather is perfect at the moment for a seaside walk - sunny, warm, barely a breeze. First we headed north along a wide path by the bay. On hitting the golf course we wove our way through more pathways, crossing Moogurrapum Creek before heading back to the carpark and continuing further south along the water to the ferry terminal and Weinam Creek. After a hearty morning's walk in the sea air we were hungry and the Redland Bay Pub was beckoning. A short hike up a staircase from the waterfront and we were set. With the perfect weather the pub was popular today, but the wait for our weekday special 'Surf and Turf' was well worth it. Do yourselves a favour and head to Redland Bay for a little touch of paradise.

Three hungry hikers are off around the world, so a day by the bay in this glorious winter sunshine was just what the doctor ordered for the lonely two left in Oz. We were delighted with our latest find - a 10 kilometre walk through various terrain beginning at Victoria Point where the ferry leaves for Coochiemudlo. Of course coffee and cake were in order before we set off in earnest, and the Wishing Well Cafe just happened to be right in our path. Then we walked down to the waterfront and followed the path along the shoreline to Point Halloran. The path is wide and meandering, and the views across the bay, stunning. The sea was calm and reflected the magnificent blue of the sky and the dazzling sunlight. We covered those first 5 kilometres wrapped in a delicious warmth that only a Qld winter sun can beam. On reaching Point Halloran we turned left, following Point Ohalloran Road beside wetlands until we came to Orana Street. This took us to the main entrance to Point Halloran Conservation Area where we followed walking tracks taking us through red clay pans, swamps, ponds, dry forests and paperbark groves. There was an incredible variety of landscape in a relatively small area hemmed by bay and creek. Leaving the conservation area, we wound our way through neat, quiet, suburban streets, skirted the Egret Colony Wetlands and finally found ourselves back at our starting point. The Wishing Well Cafe made us delicious, fresh sandwiches, and we took these out on the point where we found a bench in the sunshine to munch away and admire the view. Another find so perfect that is hard to believe we have not discovered this lovely walk before.
