First we walked through Heath Park with glimpses of boats moored in Norman Creek and crossed a little bridge over the creek at the back of Churchie. The Anglican Church of England Grammar School's English inspired architecture, green lawns and quadrangles date from the end of World War 1, but the students' voices still ring out. We watched a while as some boys trained on the track field on this warm winter's day, then proceeded to walk the streets and admire the architecture of many old houses in the area.
We enjoyed some river views from Mowbray Park and stopped to take a look at the remnants of one of Brisbane's earliest floating swimming baths. These were very popular before in-ground pools became the norm and industry took its toll on the river. Signs give a good description of their history. |
